Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane
The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is an art museum located within the Queensland Cultural Centre in the South Bank precinct of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The gallery is part of QAGOMA. The Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, colloquially known as QAGOMA, is the largest museum of art in Australia,[citation needed] and a leading institution in the Asia-Pacific. The main building is the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG), located within the Queensland Cultural Centre in South Bank, with the second gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) situated only 150 metres (490 ft) away and also houses the 'Australian Cinémathèque'. GOMA, which opened on 2 December 2006, is the largest gallery of modern and contemporary art in Australia, and houses Australia's first purpose-built cinematheque.
